These waters can all be reached comfortably within the following approximate time frames: All rivers are easily accessible to anglers. Fish and Game produce brochures which we can supply you with, these clearly show all access points available to anglers. We can also advise other access options which we have negotiated with local land owners.
The 2009 - 2010 Season begins on 1st October 2009 and ends on the 31st May 2010. All anglers must purchase a New Zealand Fishing Licence, you have the option of a daily licence (NZ$21) or a season licence (NZ$105).
Large populations of brown trout are common in the many rivers locally and often a big one can be found among them! Early in the season nymphing is the most popular and productive method using small Hares Ear, Pheasant Tail and other Mayfly nymph imitations below an indicator. Roger has a keen interest in fly fishing and an excellent local knowledge of northern waters. However, professional fishing guides are available locally.
